Cover Art

Where do your cover designs come from?

We work with a variety of museums, galleries, estates and individual artists to source our designs. Every possible step is taken to ensure that the correct people or organizations are given credit, and we will not reproduce an artwork if we are unable to obtain permission from the copyright holders.

Do you accept artwork proposals or submissions?

We are always interested in hearing what you would like to see on our journals. If you have an idea for a future Paperblanks product or design, please submit your proposal via our contact form here.

Paperblanks Planners

When will your new planners be available online?

Our new 12-Month Planners will be available in the fall of the preceding year, while our 13- and 18-Month Academic Planners will be available in the spring.

Materials

What are your products made from?

A few different components go into Paperblanks products, depending on the specific type of product. All binder boards are made from 100% recycled materials and are adorned with decorative printed paper, cloth headboards, threaded stitching and glue as needed. We also have hidden magnets in products with strap or wrap closures, and our clasps are crafted from a metal alloy. Our text paper is all FSC-certified.

Are your products vegan?

Yes. Our products are 100% vegan, including the glue we use in our bindings.

What are the materials used in your covers?

The binder boards inside our book covers, which are commonly used in bookbinding, are made from recycled materials. Our covers themselves are paper with a layer of lamination on top for protection. We do not use PVC in our book covers.

Are your journals made from real leather?

We have worked hard to re-create leather textures using paper covers; however, we do not actually use real leather in any of our products.

Paper

Are your books fountain pen friendly?

We take great care to offer high-quality text paper in all of our books and have heard from many people who have had great success using fountain pens in their Paperblanks journals. However, the way paper will take to fountain pen use also depends greatly on the ink, nib and pressure applied and thus we recommend testing your individual pen.

What are the paper weights of your books?

Our paper weights vary depending on the size of book, page count or type of cover. In general, the larger books use a heavier paper and smaller books use a lighter paper. We work hard to maximize the opacity of the paper we use (a higher gsm means a higher-opacity paper with less possibility of see-through from one side to the other), and gsm info can be found on every product page.

How many lines do your lined journals have per page?

Our journals vary in line number depending on size:

  • Mini – 19
  • Midi – 21
  • Slim – 24
  • Ultra – 25
  • Grande – 34

Is your paper FSC-certified/environmentally friendly?

All of our paper is derived from sustainable forest pulp, and our binder boards are made with 100% recycled materials. We do use writing paper that is FSC-certified in all of our notebooks. However, we do not advertise the FSC logo on our products because it would suggest that every element is FSC-certified, and we cannot guarantee this due to the decorative printed paper adorning our covers.

Jigsaw Puzzles

A puzzle piece is missing from my new game. What should I do?

In the event of any missing pieces from your brand-new puzzle, please contact the retailer for after sales advice regarding a complete replacement or exchange.

I lost a puzzle piece and want to replace it. What should I do?

Unfortunately, due to the nature of our manufacturing process, we are not able to match or supply individual puzzle pieces, therefore we cannot offer a replacement puzzle piece service.

I want to frame my puzzle – what are the exact final dimensions?

Our official puzzle sizes are 507 × 685 mm / 50.7 × 68.5 cm / 20 × 27 in. Our original packaging showed an approximate size but we will be changing this to use the more accurate measurements going forward. Due to the manufacturing process, there may be 1–2 mm variance in the final puzzle dimensions. So to absolutely guarantee a perfect framing result, we would recommend measuring your completed puzzle before purchasing a frame.

Producing Paperblanks

Where are your products made?

For more than a decade, we have worked with the same family-run producer in China who understands our creative process, never settling until the products created by their mass production techniques mirror the handcrafted prototypes first made by our design team.
