We are pleased to announce our newest collection of exquisitely designed and finely crafted writing journals. Introducing: Baroque Ventaglio.
Our cover displays a rose window surrounded by a design of slight eastern influence, and in each corner a filigree fan – the window quartered. This intricate ornamentation is typical or Italian Baroque and is inspired by a French style – à la fanfare -- which gained popularity during the first half of the 17th century.
This richly layered, decadent journal is an ideal place to preserve inspired contemplations.
Available in multiple formats (Ultra, Grande, Mini, Midi) and with either lined or unlined pages.

Our new Spring 2011 catalogue is out and we’re pleased to announce the addition of four new collections:
Baroque Ventaglio
Symbolism Couched in Opulence
Where better to pen a magnum opus than inside this magnificent example of Roman a ventaglio (fan) binding? Our reproduction of gilt-work melting over red Moroccan leather shrouds unadorned pages that make space for chronicling events of the day or recording elaborate fictions.
Our cover displays at its centre a rose window surrounded by a design of slight Eastern influence and in each corner a filigree fan – the window quartered. An intricate ornamentation typical of Italian Baroque, the geometrically compartmentalized design finds its inspiration in the French style à la fanfare, which gained popularity during the first half of the seventeenth century. Characterized by a celebration of ornate detail, Baroque decoration draws interest to deep symbolism couched in opulence.
This richly layered, decadent journal is an ideal place to preserve inspired contemplations.
Literary Art Deco
Sumptuous Abstract Interpretations
What style could be more à propos to grace the covers of these journals than the lavish designs of France in the 1920s and ‘30s? Bridging the gap between fine art and everyday objects, the Art Deco movement left behind the manifestos and politically charged notions of its early 20th century counterparts in favor of a purely decorative luxury.
The first of our two covers reproduces a fine French binding, crafted in 1932 by of Christian Pitois, of the opera Contes d’Hoffmann, the story of a protagonist being wooed by that subtle and irresistible muse, poetry. Our second cover features Paul Gruel’s binding of the 1927 volume Les ballades françaises in a sumptuous abstract interpretation, combining the clean lines and strong curves of the Art Deco style.
The original cover creations employed ornate materials (leather decorated in gold and mosaic patterns) to create a deluxe objet d’art. Our reproductions of these bindings are the perfect tomes to contain the extravagant musings of anyone captivated by the literary and decorative arts.
Parisian Mosaic
The splendor of polychromatic patterns

Our Parisian Mosaic Collection was inspired by an eighteenth-century leather mosaic binding executed in Paris by master binder Nicolas-Denis Derome. Descended from a renowned family of bookbinders, his works were much sought after as they showed a unique flair for lightness and vivacity of design.
This gold-tooled and polychromatic cover recalls a mediæval motif called au semé, which consists of small decorative patterns arranged in symmetrical lines or columns resembling a sown field. The adoption of this ancient heraldic motif combined with fresh colours and new materials brought mosaic binding into a new era of artistry.
Simply Holographic
Paperblanks® Shimmers

In a cultural landscape obsessed with optical wizardry, we celebrate the simple beauty of the hologram. Scattered light and pattern create hypnotic effects against the black background of these books. Die cuts based on old Japanese lampshades against a foil backing lend a hint of sparkle to the proceedings.
Gold, violet, rose and blue rest against hints of dawn, shimmers on water, checkerboard and pointillism, starburst and evening blooms. These journals prove that eye-catching and scintillating are the wild sisters of elegance.
If you need something flashy and functional to carry when you head out for a night on the town bring along our journal as the perfect sparkling accessory.
