Handstitched Zen
pictures of the awakened mind
Zen art is an outward expression of the inner life
of the Zen monk, a picture of the awakened mind. Zen masters of the seventeenth
and eighteenth centuries created each illustration in the Zen spirit —
a form of meditation exemplifying clarity and simplicity. The bold flowing
brush strokes are dramatically forceful, yet contemplative, seemingly impetuous
in their intensity, and strikingly immediate in their effect. A direct reflection
of the spiritual profundity of each artist, Zen art embraces and transforms
the viewer not just to look but to see.
This series has a handstitched open-back spine with silky matte laminated
paper covers over boards. The pages are lightly lined on a cream writing
paper.
